A meeting with representatives of the Brazilian Ministry of Environment (MMA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) was convened in Brasilia on 29 April to present preliminary results produced by the project in Brazil.

The aims of the meeting were to (i) present and explain these preliminary results, (ii) discuss the methods, assumptions and scenarios used in the work so far, and (iii) identify priorities for the final phase of the project. The meeting provided a further opportunity to ensure that the project addresses the issues and scenarios of most interest to MMA and that its results are useful for several ongoing policy processes in Brazil.

The meeting was proceeded by a one week workshop lead by UNEP-WCMC focussing on biodiversity implications of land use change.
