REDD-PAC school in Laxenburg, Austria

The first REDD-PAC school was held at IIASA headquarters. Scientists from IIASA, IPEA and INPE took part in a 5-day modeling course. The first part was given by Prof. Uwe A. Schneider (University of Hamburg, Germany). It was a general GAMS course in which the participants built a small illustrative model containing a lot of similarities to IIASA's GLOBIOM model. The second part was dedicated specifically to the GLOBIOM model, with Ms. Amanda Palazzo (IIASA) being the main instructor.

The objectives were:

1. To understand the basics about economic models, including GLOBIOM.
2. To get an advance knowledge of GAMS, especially concerning what is needed to run GLOBIOM.
3. To be able to run scenarios with GLOBIOM and analyze the results.
4. To be able to further develop/adapt the GLOBIOM model for Brazil.
